ABOUT MERIWETHER COUNTY IDA
The Meriwether County Industrial Development Authority was
created by an act of the Georgia General Assembly, authorized by the
Constitution of the State of Georgia, and therefore has many additional
constitutional powers not granted to the common statutory development
authorities found throughout the state, and throughout our county.
Our Constitutional Mission is:
- To encourage and promote the expansion and development of
industry, agricultural trade, and commerce and the facilities in Meriwether
County.
- To make long range plans to relieve insofar as possible
unemployment within its boundaries. To that end to acquire by purchase or
gift any building or structure within the city limits of Meriwether County,
suitable for and intended for use as a factory, mill, shop, processing
plant, assembly plant, or fabricating plant, including all necessary and
appurtenant lands and appurtenances thereto, and all necessary or useful
furnishings, machinery and equipment."
The essence of our mission is to:
-
Help existing industry expand.
-
Develop new industry.
-
To be visionary, and to make long range plans.
-
To alleviate unemployment.
-
To purchase or build facilities including land, machinery
and equipment for our purposes.
