Fala Day Festival

We welcome the Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Atlanta to our Chamber membership.  This club of is organized for dog owners and lovers of the Scottish Terrier breed and serves to promote quality breeding; supporting breeding standards as established by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and conducting licensed shows as a part of the AKC.  They also host gatherings for their members and in particular host two main events per year - The Scottish Terrier Specialty held the first Saturday at the Central Georgia Convention Center in Forsyth and the Fala Days Festival, held annually in Warm Springs.  This festival was named after Franklin Roosevelt's dog named Fala and each year serves as a celebration for members of the club and their dogs.

This year the festival will be held on November 5th and 6th and will be on the streets of Warm Springs.  It will begin with a scavenger hunt involving the downtown shops on Friday afternoon, followed by the main festivities on Saturday, which will include bagpipers, costume contest and sock race.  It is expected to draw a huge crowd to the city of Warm Springs and will be a great tourist attraction in the downtown area. Since the club also sponsors a Scottie Rescue Program; there may be dogs available for adoption.
