Utilities
The Georgia Territorial Electric Service Act was passed by
the Georgia Legislature on March 29, 1973, providing for a statewide-integrated
transmission system. This has eliminated the need for duplicate transmission
delivery systems from generating plants. Industrial customers with an initial
connected load of 900KW or more can choose which supplier in the area will
provide the needed electricity. This is a one-time decision by the customer and
cannot be changed at a later date.
Residential and commercial electric customers in Meriwether County buy
electricity from one of four providers depending upon location and usage.
